Before the tales of gods and heroes reach their end, one ancient tree stands at the center of the Norse cosmos.

Yggdrasil, the mighty World Tree, is an immense ash whose branches stretch across the heavens and whose roots reach deep into the realms of existence. Around it lie the Nine Realms—among them Asgard, home of the Æsir gods; Midgard, the world of humankind; and Hel, the realm of the dead.

Beneath its roots lie ancient wells of wisdom and fate. At the Well of Urðr, the three Norns—Urðr, Verðandi, and Skuld—shape the destinies of living beings. An eagle watches from the tree's heights, while the dragon Níðhöggr gnaws at its roots.

Even Odin, the Allfather, sought wisdom through Yggdrasil. He hung upon the tree for nine nights, wounded by his own spear, sacrificing himself to himself in pursuit of the secrets of the runes.

Through the struggles of gods, the passing of ages, and the coming of Ragnarök, Yggdrasil remains one of Norse mythology's most powerful images of connection, wisdom, fate, and the enduring cycle of existence.
